OTHER CLASSES
specialized training with a narrow focus

Introduction to Sporting Clays

Students begin with a brief classroom session that explains the techniques used to successfully engage clay pigeons including:
  • Stance
  • Hold Point
  • Mount
  • See the Target
  • Swing
  • Pull the Trigger
  • Follow Through
Students will then engage clay pigeons and receive feedback on how they are applying the seven fundamentals of clay pigeon shooting.  Pump action, break action, semi-automatic and over/under shotguns are available in 12 gauge and 20 gauge.

Hunter Shooting Skills

Students are given specific instruction on setting up their hunting firearms to improve their chances of having a successful hunt.  For example, properly zeroing for the
anticipated engagement distance and using appropriate ammunition.   In addition we'll have the student shoot the firearm and work to improves the student's shooting fundamentals.  Finally, we'll show the student some options for improving their accuracy in the field by using portable devices such as a tripod, bipod or monopod.

If a student has not purchased a firearm for hunting yet we can provide examples of different style of rifles, shotguns and handguns geared toward hunting and allow the student to use them while receiving instruction on shooting fundamentals.   This should aid the student in making an informed purchase decision.

Precision Rifle Setup

Students
who purchase a rifle capable of shooting a minute of angle (MOA) or better are often unsure how set up the firearm for long range shooting.  We help the student select components for the rifle such as an MOA rail, scope rings and scope based on their budget.   Once all the components arrive the student brings the rifle to the range where we'll properly install the components and zero the rifle while also breaking in the barrel.
